A Bright New Boise
A Bright New Boise by Samuel D. Hunter
How do you deal with regret, unachieved ambitions, lost connections, unfixable mistakes and working at the most dead-end of jobs? In Boise, Idaho, a small semi-rural town in the central USA, these questions are an everyday reality. Surreal and banal, this play examines the beauty and messiness of relationships and trying to start a new life while reckoning with the overbearing past.
Directed by Fred Pryce, my design centred on the isolation of the characters. The lighting segregated each character and placed them against an unending cold. Their ability to connect is hindered and they are challenged by the world to abandon what they believe in.
